Introducing a New, Flexible Format for Bild Practice-Based Qualifications

We are delighted to announce an update to Bild’s qualifications.

We are delighted to announce an update to Bild’s qualifications, designed to strengthen the expertise we offer learners and provide greater choice in how practitioners develop the practical skills they need for their roles.

Working in partnership with the Restraint Reduction Network and Respond, we now offer five Bild Diploma BTEC Level 5 qualifications. These diplomas allow practitioners to specialise in a pathway that reflects their role and setting, while all routes share a strong foundation in Practice Leadership.

The Bild Diploma in Practice Leadership is a unique, practice-based qualification for those providing direct support in health, social care, or education. Each diploma combines core learning with specialist units that emphasise the application of theory in real-world practice, ensuring learners meet the full Diploma criteria.

Practice Leadership is central to every Bild Diploma. By embedding learning into everyday practice, practice leaders improve the quality and consistency of support, strengthen team performance, and help retain skilled staff, delivering better outcomes for both services and the people they support.

Core units (completed by all learners):

  • Capable and Supportive Environments
  • Practice Leadership
  • Working with People with Lived Experience

These core units are complemented by two specialist units that develop deeper knowledge of key principles and their practical application within a chosen area of practice.

This new structure also enables clear recognition of prior learning. Learners who already hold a Bild Diploma can “top up” their qualification by completing two additional specialist units to achieve a second Diploma in another pathway.
