New job role to help co-ordinate Buddies for people in secure hospitals

Working with West Midlands NHS Provider Collaborative, we are piloting a project called ‘Buddies’. This important project matches people with lived experience to support someone that is detained in a secure hospital by befriending, advocating and listening.

Buddies are people with lived experience of autism, learning disabilities, secure psychiatric care and restrictive practices, who now live in the community.

The Buddy Coordinator will support Buddies in their role. This will involve organising, mentoring and supporting Buddies providing help, encouragement, and assistance to Buddies before, during and after their calls with the detained person.
