The Centre for the Advancement of Positive Behaviour Support (CAPBS) have published a new sector wide paper, The need to clearly distinguish and separate Physical Intervention training from Positive Behaviour Support training in the UK, authored by Edwin Jones, Sarah Leitch, Dave Williams and Marie Cresswell, following the discussions at May’s International Positive Behaviour Support Conference.
The accompanying video features Edwin Jones and Sarah Leitch, who outline why clearer separation strengthens PBS as a preventative, rights-based framework. This publication continues work to support clarity, consistency and good practice across the sector. It does not change RRN Training Standards or ACT certification requirements. Instead, the paper contributes to ongoing dialogue about prevention, quality of life and the reduction of restrictive practices, reinforcing Bild and CAPBS’s commitment to human rights-based support.
Bild and CAPBS will continue working across the sector to strengthen clarity, improve outcomes and support the sector’s shared aim of reducing restraint to the absolute minimum.
