UK PBS Alliance Webinar: Using talking mats to support involvement in PBS plans

In this webinar we will welcome Jill Bradshaw (University of Kent), who will discuss how we can support involvement in PBS plans through using talking mats.

Gathering the views of people with Intellectual Disabilities is important. The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) states that people have the right to be heard.

Many people with Intellectual Disabilities have difficulties communicating. A Talking Mats Framework is one method by which people may be able to express their views.

Taking the views of the individual into account during the process of gathering information about behaviours that challenge should lead to greater understanding of the functions of any behaviours and therefore to more targeted, acceptable and effective forms of support.

This webinar will focus on current research and practice around using Talking Mats to support involvement in PBS plans.

There will also be opportunity for you to ask questions in the Q&A session following Jill’s presentation.

We are pleased to offer this live webinar for free, and the recording will be made available to Bild Members. Find out more about Bild Membership here>
