Restraint Reduction Network Conference 2021

Book now to secure Early Bird ticket prices for the Restraint Reduction Network Conference 2021

The Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) is excited to announce an impressive array of speakers for this year’s RRN Conference exploring the theme of inequalities and restrictive practices with early bird ticket prices available until 7 November.

The conference will be taking place on 30 November to 1 December at The Queens Hotel in Leeds in-person and virtually.

Inequalities and Restrictive Practices

In a variety of exclusive keynotes, panels and workshops, we’ll explore the work that is being done – and still needs to be done – to tackle social injustices. We will debate and share good practice, and discuss how to champion the rights of everyone we work with, so we can work collectively to eliminate the use of unnecessary restrictive practice.

The conference will also highlight how people from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, people with learning disabilities, autistic people, females, children and young people, and older people living with dementia, are disproportionately subjected to restrictive practices.

A Packed Agenda

A host of fantastic speakers and workshop leaders have already been confirmed for the event and in person tickets include a buffet dinner at the end of Day One, along with a brilliant evening performance by the mental health choir, Bee Vocal.

Speakers include:

  • Vanessa Bobb – parent campaigner
  • Niven Rennie – Director, Scottish Violence Reduction Unit
  • Professor Chris Hatton – Manchester Metropolitan University)
  • Robert Eckhart, Senior Policy Officer, Scottish Government
  • Rachel Whittaker – Health and Justice / High Security Hospital Policy Lead, DHSC.

A Note on Safety

We are committed to the safety of all our delegates, and will be keeping to government guidance throughout to ensure a COVID-safe event.

While our team is working towards welcoming delegates back in-person, we recognise that not everyone will feel ready to attend face-to-face events, or may not be able to travel to attend. We will therefore be offering virtual tickets.
