People with learning disabilities and other cognitive impairments can die from treatable conditions when professionals and families are unsure how to use the Mental Capacity Act to get them to hospital.
In this webinar, we’ll introduce the Social Care Institute for Excellence‘s (SCIE) Get Me To Hospital guidance, which supports families and practitioners when a person lacks capacity to decide about going to hospital for physical health treatment, but doesn’t want to go. Developed with the Stop People Dying Too Young group, the guidance was shaped by people with lived experience, alongside paramedics, social workers, nurses, care providers, advocates and family members. We’ll talk about how it was put together, what was learned along the way, and where to find the guidance and the accompanying e-learning resource.
This webinar will last for 1 hour.
