This established BTEC Level 5 qualification provides PBS practitioners with the skills and knowledge to coach and influence the practice of others.
The qualification is for people who work directly with people in health, social care or education. Putting learning into practice, the Diploma enables learners to improve the life of a person they directly support and make positive changes with them.
Learners will gain confidence in working to prevent crises from arising and recognise that behaviours of concern are more likely to happen when the environment does not work for people. Learners will develop skills in Active Support, complete a functional assessment, and implement a holistic support plan, as well as coach others to understand and implement all aspects of PBS.
All Bild Diploma courses support learners to develop and deepen skills in Practice Leadership.
The Bild Diploma holds 36 credits, and expects 360 learning hours.
Units undertaken by learners:
- Principles of person centred positive behaviour support.
- Capable and supportive environments.
- Practice leadership.
- Working with people with lived experience to influence change.
- Coproducing a PBS plan.
PBS Diploma learnerThe course contains useful information and practical ways to learn and reflect on your practices. I feel it gave me a broader understanding of various strategies that I have already been able to put into practice successfully.

Learner prerequisites:
- Learners must have English skills equal to Level 2A as set out by the British Council in order to access, engage with and complete the qualification.
- Learners must be working in a service and directly supporting people.
- Learners at Diploma level must be in a position to practice lead and supervise others in practice.

Preparing for the qualification
Learners may be interested in the free Positive Behaviour Support E-Learning developed by Swansea Bay University Health Board, as a first step before embarking on a Bild PBS qualification. Please note this is not a prerequisite.
