The BTEC Certificate in Positive Behaviour Support offers practitioners who provide direct support opportunity to deepen their understanding of PBS.
The qualification is for practitioners in health, social care or education. With an emphasis on putting learning into practice, the Certificate enables learners to focus on deepening and improving their practice, working with the person they support to identify opportunities to change and improve support.
Learners gain confidence in working preventatively and recognise that behaviours of concern arise when the environment does not work well for people.
The Bild Certificate in Positive Behaviour Support holds 15 credits, and expects 150 learning hours.
Units undertaken by learners:
- Understanding behaviours of concern and the role of Positive Behaviour Support.
- Developing capable and supportive environments.
- Supporting functional assessment and intervention.

Learner prerequisites:
- Learners must have English skills equal to Level 2A as set out by the British Council in order to access, engage with and complete the qualification.
- Learners must be working in a service and directly supporting people.

Preparing for the qualification
Learners may be interested in the free Positive Behaviour Support E-Learning developed by Swansea Bay University Health Board, as a first step before embarking on a Bild PBS qualification. Please note this is not a prerequisite.
