Bild for the Future

Who are we?

Bild for the Future is a group of people with learning disabilities and autistic people. They work with Bild to make sure Bild's work is rooted in people's real life experiences.

Kate Brackley

Kate is the Chair of Bild for the Future, a Trustee at Bild and works for Bild as a Learning Disability Advisor.

Kate lives in Droitwich, her interests are jigsaw puzzles, adult colouring, meeting new people, taking part in local theatre, volunteering with two groups and spending time with family and friends and going to the gym.

"I have a special interest in health inequalities and growing older with learning disabilities because, while everyone experiences health inequalities, people with learning disabilities face even more challenges, especially as they age."

Lara Holland

Lara lives in Worcester, works as a Vice Chair for Bild for the Future, and is a Trustee of Bild.  Lara’s interests are watching Formula 1, doing adult colouring, and meeting new people. Lara likes to travel and learn new cultures.

"As someone with a learning disability, I have a special interest in Homes not Hospitals because people like me deserve the chance to live in supportive, community-based homes rather than being isolated in hospitals."

Matty Prothero

Matty is from Essex and is the Co-Chair of the Bild Board of Trustees.  Matty is also a director of Sunderland People First. Matty’s interests are fishing and diamond painting as he finds this therapeutic.

Andy Bryce

Mary Bottomley

Mary lives in Sheffield and works for Sheffield Voices.

Darren Lee

Darren lives in Sheffield and works at Sheffield Voices. His hobbies are the countryside, reading, films and he likes speaking up in meetings to raise awareness.

John Lawley

John is from Bewdley and is from Our Way self-advocacy. His interests are football, computers, sports and cars.

Simon Mountford

Simon lives in Staffordshire. His interests are working with charities and helping other people and promoting good work.

Eric Logan

Eric lives in the Stratford area; he is part of the SPICE group which is part of Future Directions. His interests are watching films, computer games, dancing, disco’s, theme parks, nature.

Mano

Mano’s name is Manojith but prefers to be called Mano.  Mano lives in Kidderminster in Worcestershire but was born in Sri Lanka.

He is a part of Speakeasy Now Self Advocacy Group and is a part of their Health Checkers group. Mano's hobbies are reading, watching science and nature documentaries. Mano likes to listen to BBC Radio 4 and Radio 5, he also likes singing and dancing too.

Sal Lapsley

As well as being a Bild for the Future group member, Sal also is a part of the Bild Working Together Group. Her interests are making cards, building Lego, visiting family, watching films and seeing friends.

"I am especially interested in practice leadership also known as workplace leaders at Bild for the Future because it is important to me, and I believe it helps us understand what a practice leader does and the role they play in supporting staff to improve their skills and provide high quality care or services."

Vicky Smith

Vicky originally lived in Liverpool and now lives on the Wirral. As well as working with Bild, Vicky works at Macintyre.

Her interests are watching Netflix, play games on tablet and phone and she loves to visit her family.
