About Bild
Bild (British Institute of Learning Disabilities) is a national charity that, for 50 years, has protected and supported the rights of people with learning disabilities. We want a more fair and equal society where everyone has the same rights and opportunities.
By working in partnership with people with learning disabilities and autistic people, drawing from research and evidence, we identify best practice and what works. People want the right kind of support so they can make choices and decisions about the things that affect their lives.
Working in partnership
Bild works as part of a partnership of four independent charities committed to a society where everyone can enjoy the same rights and opportunities. Bild, Restraint Reduction Network, Bild Association of Certified Training and Respond are separate charities, with their own governance arrangements, who share a common set of values and vision for our society.
The Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) is a registered charity with an ambitious vision to eliminate the unnecessary use of restrictive practices in health, social care and education.
Bild Association of Certified Training (ACT) is a UK charity providing certification for training that includes a restrictive component.
ACT is licensed by the Restraint Reduction Network to certify training services as complying with the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards.
Respond supports people with learning disabilities and autistic people who have experienced abuse, violence or trauma.
