Our work

• We help people with learning disabilities to tell stories, and we train the people who work with them

• We tell stories about our own lives

• We tell legends and myths and wonder tales

• We challenge the way people with learning disability are shown in stories

• We go out to conferences, we do workshops in schools and we do staff training

The way we work

• We learn how to tell stories by ....telling stories
• With someone else who helps the story along
• Gradually we get better at telling stories on our own
• Everyone has stories and can tell them with help.

Robin says: That reminds me of one of the performances at Festival at the Edge. There were two storytellers, and the way I figured it was it was like their colour was like disability. They wanted people to think Jamaica was a good peaceful place, not full of guns.

We all have different skills. Some of us have strong voices, some of us have good memories, some of us can draw well, and some of us can do mime well. Together we make a strong team of storytellers. We tell stories together and help each other.

We communicate with the audience so they get the message.
