Who is it for?
This course is for anyone who is new to safeguarding adults with learning disabilities. This may include: support workers, personal assistants, family members or friends.
You will find this especially useful if you are completing the Level 3 Diploma in Adult care or the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship. The course is closely linked to modules within these programmes.
The course is a basic programme suitable for those without prior experience and is delivered by an expert BILD consultant.
How will it help me?
This course will look into how safeguarding and capacity can impact on choice, decision making and positive risk taking by people with learning disabilities.
Elements of the programme include:
- Being able to identify types of abuse
- Understanding how to respond to concerns of abuse
- Discussing the relationship between capacity, decision making and risk
- Understanding the link between quality of life, wellbeing and risk
