Introduction to Independent Advocacy

A BILD CPD Learning and Development Day

 

A day aimed at people who would like to know more about the role of the Independent Advocate.

Advocacy supports people to express their views, choices and decisions on an equal footing and works to make those decisions happen. This event will provide an opportunity to explore all aspects of the role including the underpinning principles, skills and dilemmas. It is for people who are interested in finding out more about the role of an independent advocate or who are newly appointed advocates.


Aims and outcomes
This event will provide an understanding of:

  • The values and principles underpinning Independent Advocacy
  • An overview of common issues addressed by advocacy
  • The role of the Independent Advocate and required knowledge and skills
  • The importance of communication
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion


Who should attend? 

  • People who are new to the role of an independent advocate, either paid or voluntary or who would like to find out more about the role. 
  • People working in education and other professions with an interest in this field.
  • People who would like to achieve a Level 2 qualification in advocacy.
