This booklet provides guidance for children, parents and teachers about being held. Originally developed for use with children with learning disabilities and their teachers, the text has been revised to increase its relevance for all children’s and young people’s services.
This new edition is based on up-to-date guidance from the Department of Health and Department for Education and Skills. Using plain English and clear illustrations, the guide encourages good practice in this difficult area by explaining:
- about being held
- why adults may hold a child
- what the child’s rights are
The booklet includes a 10-point good practice guide.
