Handling information for a learning disability worker

Lesley Barcham and Jackie Pountney

This book explains the need for the secure handling of personal information when supporting people with a learning disability. It describes how to contribute and maintain up to date, complete, accurate and legible records. It describes different ways to support people to understand and contribute to the information held about them.

This book puts the person with a learning disability at the centre of the support you give. It uses real life stories, activities and thinking points to cover all of the learning outcomes and is full of practical examples of how to apply the ideas to the support that you provide.

The book is designed to support the Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Health and Social Care (learning disability pathway) and the Common Induction Standards and in particular:

Level 2 - Handle information in health and social care settings
Level 3 - Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care

If you are starting work with people with a learning disability and are undertaking your induction, studying for the level 2 or 3 diplomas in health and social care, or you want the right information to help your personal development, then Handling information for a learning disability worker is for you.
