Induction Award
Supporting People Who Have a Learning Disability
Brought to you by a partnership between BILD and Heinemann.
These books are for people who are starting work in the learning disability sector and studying for the Induction Award. Four separate study books allow learners to choose the different units of the Award when they are ready.
They cover both Levels 2 and 3 so learners will have everything for their stage of study. They also provide underpinning knowledge and careful linking to the relevant NVQ/SVQ in Health and Social Care. Each study book meets the learning outcomes for that unit.
Each study book includes a range of key features to make
learning stimulating and interesting:
● examples taken from real situations
● information from people with learning disabilities and family carers
● reference to key legislation and policy
● thinking points and activities for reflection and consolidation
The trainer pack covers all units of the Award and provides support for the
delivery of all learning outcomes.
Community Care review
A five star review of Principles of learning disability support appeared in Community Care:
‘Packed with advice and information the book makes learning fun and interesting. Each of the eight chapters tackles a different aspect relating to respect and deals with it in a practical way.’
‘Throughout the book the key focus is the person with a learning disability.’
‘...it challenges the reader to look at themselves and think how they can influence the environment they find themselves in. This alone makes the book well worth the cover price.’
