EDCM Networks: 10,000 supporters target reached!

We've produced a leaflet for parents/carers about the Disabled Children (Family Support) Bill, which aims to give families with disabled children new rights to short breaks. The leaflet is attached below.

The leaflet explains what the Bill will do, and what parents/carers can do to help the Bill become law.

We'd like to make these leaflets available to as many parents as possible. Please can you:

- let me know if you have any mailouts that you could include this leaflet in (with mailing deadlines), and we'll send you a batch over
- send the leaflet round any relevant networks
- make the leaflet available to download from your website if appropriate

The main push for the Bill is the Second reading on the 23rd Feb, so any opportunities to disseminate the leaflet before then are much appreciated.

We are delighted to announce that the Every Disabled Child Matters campaign has reached its first target of 10,000 supporters signed up to get rights and justice for disabled children. We would like to say a huge 'Thank you' to all those that signed up - and those of you that put calls for sign up on your websites, and out through your networks - we could not have done this without your support.

Our new target is for 25,000 supporters by July 2007, when the Government will be launching the results of its spending review on services for disabled children. We want to show them how big an issue this is all over the UK. The more supporters we have, the stronger the message from disabled children and their families will be.

If you haven't already done so, please do ask other colleagues to sign up at http://www.edcm.org.uk. If you have a website, you could also add a link to our website from yours, calling for people to sign up so we can reach the new target.
